5 most relevant · via GoogleThe Edinburgh Futures Institute is not a museum, gallery, or traditional tourist attraction. It is a bold, new academic and research initiative by The University of Edinburgh, housed in one of the city's most spectacularly repurposed historical buildings. A visit here is about experiencing the fusion of heritage, cutting-edge innovation, and public engagement. The Edinburgh Futures Institute is a statement piece for 21st-century Edinburgh. It proves the city's commitment to being a historic capital and a future-facing leader. While not a must-see in the classic tourist sense, it is a profoundly impressive space that offers a glimpse into how a world-class university is rethinking its role in society. For the right visitor, it can be the most inspiring stop on their Edinburgh itinerary.
It's lovely inside but feels a bit sparse or isolated at times. It lacks something but I can't quite put my finger on what that is. Good space for working in peace. Worth going to see the Climavore Bivalve mural and other art.
Incredible facilities and a wonderful vibe. Peaceful and conducive to working even when it is busy. So many areas to work from with charging access, soundproof booths for private calls, meeting rooms, quiet spots and bustling areas. Toilets and drinking points on every floor, excellent café too. Can't recommend it enough.
Thanks to the far sighted vision of Edinburgh University, Edinburgh's old Royal Infirmary which had been become quite dilapidated, was brilliantly transformed into this incredible and unique space. What an absolutely splendid job was done. It truly has risen like a phoenix from the ashes and, without the University's vision, we citizens of Edinburgh would most likely have lost this great edifice.
Possibly not everyone's cup of tea but I absolutely love the way the old and the new are blended together to create a marvelous space. Much is open to the public, including the restaurant Canopy and the associated coffee shop, which are worth a visit.
