Dobbies Garden Centre Dunfermline

We used to frequent Dobbies around Christmas when my daughter was younger, the Santa arrival was a highlight. This unfortunately stopped years back and although we still pop in around Christmas it's not the same. I don't think the redesigned cafe is nearly as good or cosy as it used to be either, we stopped using it. As a store it sells a vast range of garden and household goods. There's even a pet department and aquatic area catering for both indoor and outdoor aquatics. There's a top end food hall too as well as high end barbecues and equipment. There are external displays of garden sheds and buildings for sale. This place is full of interesting stuff but for me the price point is definitely premium.

I had a fantastic experience at Dobbies Dunfermline thanks to Chay. I went into the store looking for a specific outdoor pot I'd seen elsewhere, and after checking thoroughly, he confirmed they didn't have it in stock. Rather than leaving it there, he took the time to recommend a brilliant alternative that was just as suitable. He also let me know about Dobbies' free potting service if I chose a plant that day, which was such a lovely touch and made the whole experience even better. It's always a joy visiting this store – the team are friendly and knowledgeable, and the outdoor plant area looked absolutely amazing. Thank you, Chay, for going the extra mile and making what could have been a disappointing visit such a positive one. I'll definitely be back!

We visited the Santa experience at Dobbies Garden Centre in Dunfermline today 16th December, and I felt compelled to leave a heartfelt thank you. Santa himself was fantastic, genuinely kind, wonderfully funny, and completely engaging. He created such a relaxed, joyful atmosphere and made everyone feel welcome from the moment we arrived. However, the true star of our visit was one of the elves, I believe her name was Danielle. She was petite, with brown hair and a little nose stud, and she was nothing short of exceptional. My elderly mother-in-law was with us and she lives with dementia. Danielle showed such natural warmth, patience and understanding, responding beautifully in the moment and going so far above and beyond what could ever be expected. She made my mother-in-law feel comfortable, included and valued, and that kindness meant more to our family than I can properly put into words. What could have been an overwhelming experience was instead truly magical, thanks to the compassion, humour and care shown by the whole team. This wasn’t just a Santa visit, it was a moment of genuine human kindness that we’ll always remember. Thank you to Santa, Danielle, and everyone involved for creating such a thoughtful, joyful and unforgettable experience. It was Christmas spirit at its very best. 🎄✨

Love coming here, lots to see, we particularly like the gardening department, tropical fish and the food department, reasonable price and clean store.

The staff in the main shop, cafe and aquarium are lovely, so welcoming, helpful and friendly, but the same cannot be said for some of the staff in the garden section, who are surly and clearly resent the fact that dogs are allowed. For example yesterday I was reprimanded rudely for the fact that my small dog lifted his leg on a large metal pillar outside when my back was turned. I have been a regular customer for months and was considering opening a Dobbies account but I doubt I will bother now.
