Staff were caring and considerate, as well as extremely knowledgeable, professional and encouraging. I needed it! I was sent for an x-ray. The waiting area was full, but I was still seen within half an hour. On my return to department 7, I was seen immediately. The doctor and nurse very carefully removed my plaster and stitches. I was given lots of good advice and encouragement, then fitted with a boot. To my delight, I am allowed to remove it when resting, gradually start to weight bear and even shower the wound after a few days. The doctor has referred me, already, for physiotherapy, to speed up the process, and avoid too long a delay. I cannot praise them enough.
Had to take grandson to hospital ourselves after a seizure at a local park as we were declined an ambulance. Took 15 minutes to find anywhere to park, dropped off daughterinlaw and grandson while I tried to find parking space. Went to find out where A and E was, went in main enterance to ask directions as we are not local to the area. Went to a desk manned by volunteers, they completely ignored me and carried on with their conversation so I walked away. Very poor. Finally found A and E, then was directed the wrong way to childrens A and E. A nurse then very kindly showed me the way. We then waited 3 and a half hours to be seen by a Dr. Full waiting room so other children in the same boat. Daughterin law was spoken to very rudely to when asking about where to wait due to Grandsons autism, he doesnt manage well in these situations. Seen by a nice junior Dr, by that time Grandson had come round somewhat. Found out that he should have had his blood sugars taken on arrival which didnt happen so we had to wait again. Overall staff were friendly (apart from the volunteer staff and staff on arrival). I know they are busy and overwhelmed but communication is always key. I work in the NHS so I am very aware of the challenges faced by overworked staff but basic politeness does not cost money and goes a long way in making a stressful visit to A and E a little better. Not impressed with this hospital.
On 27th July I was admitted to Aran Ward for a procedure to insert a feeding tube. From the time of arrival we were treated with respect and friendly and this continued] until I went home later the next day. My procedure was carried out in the X-ray department where the staff each introduced themselves and there professionalism was throughout my time with them. Please pass on my thanks to both departments I was very impressed throughout my stay and left happy with my treatment Brian Lammond
I am utterly disgusted by the experience my step-daughter has had at Ysbyty Gwynedd's A&E department. She was brought to the hospital by ambulance after suffering an epileptic seizure, and yet she has been left waiting for over 10 hours without being properly seen by medical staff. What makes this even more concerning is that during this time, there appeared to be little to no communication, updates, or welfare checks to ensure she was safe and being monitored. The lack of information provided to patients and their families is unacceptable. Staff on reception were dismissive and abrupt when approached for updates, while other members of staff seemed either unaware of what was happening or unable to provide any meaningful information. To make matters worse, the condition of the facilities was poor. The department appeared dirty, tired, and poorly maintained, compounded by someone vomitting within the department, which then was dismissed by a member of staff, who merely closed their door. which only added to the distress of what was already an extremely worrying situation. It is beyond belief that someone who arrives at an Emergency Department by ambulance following an epileptic seizure and suffering 2 more seizures whilst waiting can be left waiting for such an excessive period without being assessed by a clinician. yet others can just walk straight through and be seen straight away no questions asked. Hmmmmm - Priorities ?!? I understand that hospitals face significant pressures, but basic patient care, communication, and compassion should never be compromised. This experience has left our family deeply concerned about the standard of care being provided, and I sincerely hope the hospital reviews its procedures to ensure that other patients do not have to endure the same ordeal.
I came in with 3 broken ribs, a broken wrist, a broken collar bone, and a broken shoulder blade. I waited 6 excruciating hours before they finally gave me adequate pain meds. By the time they were wearing off, they said they could only give me more once I got up to my room. Once there, the nurse refused, and I was only given them the next day. I was there during a heat wave, but they had no climate control, which led to a full body skin rash due to another condition I have, which led to more doctors visits and an unbearable 4 days. It was worse than all my broken bones. They had also identified a complication with my broken wrist but did nothing to mitigate it. If they had followed protocol, I would not have had to have surgery. But since they didn't, I had surgery two weeks later, which requires an additional 6 weeks in a cast. All of which could have been avoided if they were somewhat competent in their field. (They actually missed my broken wrist completely, but it was glaringly obvious to the first doctor in Spain that saw the exact same X-rays.)
