YORK HOME IMPROVEMENTS

Just had my polycarbonate roof replaced by Mark at York Home Improvements. The process was clearly explained from the outset and a very reasonable price agreed. Mark does most of the work on his own so it does take a little longer but this was completed within a couple of weeks from start to finish including plastering and fitted downlighting. The roof is lightweight tiles and full insulation is included. Mark is very knowledgeable and we were pleased with the attention to detail and we would recommend his company to anyone.

In 2023 I got quotes for my conservatory which was leaking. I was told I needed a new roof because the leak was from the internal gutter and to get at it they would need to take the roof off and the internal ceiling. Fortunately the person who was going to do the job didn’t turn up on the day so I had to start all over again with quotes. I say fortunately because in my next lot of quotes I had Mark from York Home Improvements come along and tell me that the leak could be done without removing the roof or touching the internal ceiling. The roof was polycarbonate panels which were looking in a bad state so I asked for a quote to renew the roof with light weight tiles as well as fixing the leak. The quote was sent to me the same day and was less than a third of what I was going to be charged last year. He wasn’t able to start for about 4 weeks, mainly due to weather. The job was done in just over 2 days and looks great. Mark, I would say is meticulous in wanting to do the job right and making sure that all aspects of the work is carried out to the customers liking. All rubbish was taken away and the site was left clean and tidy. I would not hesitate to recommend Mark to anyone. It’s been 3 weeks now with plenty of rain outside and none in.

Like a lot of people we had experienced the classic problems of a conservatory, too hot in summer, too cold in winter and too much glare on sunny days. We first considered replacing our conservatory roof about five years ago and spoke to a few local companies but were put off by lack of detail regarding material specification used and construction methods. We also felt that on face value the prices quoted seemed unreasonably expensive. The classic problems with the conservatory made it difficult to put it to good use, although we tried to cope with the heat, cold and glare it was even unsuitable as a much needed office. In January of this year we made a couple of attempts to seal the roof which had developed a few leaks and being unsuccessful we finally conceded the roof had to be replaced with an insulated version to address the extreme temperature issues, the glare and leak issues After googling we contacted three companies, one being York Home Improvements, a specialist in fitting insulated conservatory roofs. We spoke to Mark and were impressed immediately. We were given precise details of the specification of materials to be used and went through the method of construction step-by-step. Even I could follow his explanation of how the job was going to be carried out - we were talking to a Tradesman with years of experience. The following week Mark came to survey the job, confirmed the details discussed during our initial telephone call and as promised got back to us within a few days with the price which compared favourably against those we obtained five years earlier. It was a pleasure watching a Tradesman at work, Mark turned up each day at the time advised, he left the site clean and tidy each evening and the job was finished on the day he said it would be. Thanks to Mark and York Home Improvements we now have the additional room we had craved for, with a bit of redecoration, a bit of elbow grease it’s like a shiny new pin and getting used regularly. We recommend you contact Mark, you won’t be disappointed. Gordon & Christine, South Cave

Mark and his team installed a lightweight fiberglass replacement roof on our conservatory with the minimum of fuss. Always both friendly and professional, the installation is a high quality option and, after completion, Mark returned to check that everything was as it should be. And they cleared up everyday on the job before they left. We're very pleased with the work and certainly have no hesitation recommending YORK HOME IMPROVEMENTS should you have a roofing requirement. Thanks Guys.' Great job!

if you are looking for a first class tradesman that turns up when promised and does and excellent job at a reasonable price then I can highly recommend York Home Improvements Mark replaced our conservatory roof at the end of 2020. We have been highly delighted with it and our south facing conservatory no longer overheats in summer and is usable all year round (even in the winter months). Mark also came out at very short notice on an unrelated gutter problem that we had. The service provided by Mark and his team has been outstanding.
