SES Renovations Home Extensions Garden Rooms & Landscaping Builders

SES completed our extension and garden landscaping last year (2024). The management and workers were exceptional and we are delighted with the result. Even with restricted access the work was done on time and every challenge overcome with the minimum of fuss. As with all project there were a few snags on completion and SES attended to our concerns. I recommend them for any house project.

We really appreciated Stevie and his team when they renovated our bedroom, office and basement. They handled all aspects of the project and responded to emails and texts quickly. Everyone was reliable and efficient and we rated joiners Daniel and Josef very highly.

Barry and his team did a wonderful job in our garden laying decking, installing electrics, replacing our steps, and laying new turf, brick edging, and gravel areas. They also installed a new door to our garage, and built new fencing and gates. We are delighted with their work from start to finish. Thank you Stevie, Barry and the whole team.

*Photo is not of their work but of the gate we wanted replaced* This isn't a review so much on the quality of the work but on the price. Our neighbour got his garden and fence done by SES. Given that our garden gate is a bit knackered and we knew it would look stupid next to a completely different colour fence, we asked if SES could quote us to get our gate done and also some soil removal and a timber edge with gravel where the new fence would be. They quoted £650 for the gate and £350 for the rest of the work. I was gobsmacked. Online guides were suggesting nowhere near £650 for a garden gate even with labour. Given that inflation has been driving prices up, I put the question to a multitude of friends and family members from across the UK. They were shocked and outraged by the price. I have a friend down in England who is a joiner who said that to replicate the exact gate (see photo), it would be £400 LONDON prices. To make things worse, it took WEEKS of emailing and calling to actually get a quote, which clearly suggested SES didn't want the job. Under normal circumstances, I would have moved on to another tradesperson when they failed to respond to communication, but it made absolute sense to get our gate done at the same time. Also, we wanted to choose a gate, and that didn't seem to be an option. The absolute madness of this is I'm saving up right now, working overtime, etc, to get our garden landscaped in the near future (I hope) - I'm looking for a total transformation with a garden room, BBQ area, etc. I was thinking that if the gate and other job worked out, we could consider hiring them. However, I now feel that I would get royally ripped off. Workers were friendly, polite, and considerate. Work is ok from our perspective. A couple of people have commented about gaps on the fence on the side exposed to the estate. I haven't looked closely enough at this. As for what has happened, thank you SES for leaving us in a bit of a rubbish situation with our gate. We'll get another tradesperson to do it by next year if not this year, but it would have been nice to have treated reasonably regarding a quote. You either didn't want the job or wanted to exploit our position financially. Whatever this case - we won't be using nor shall recommend your services.

Steven and his team implemented a garden design for us, which included building a new garden room, adjoining shed and landscaping our garden. Barry, the foreman and his team worked solidly (particularly with challenging weather at times) and gave thought to how the design would work in practice, making slight changes to improve things after consulting with us. We self sourced and supplied composite fencing and gates which it’s fair to say were problematic to install. However the SES team worked hard to successfully install! As is often the case with such projects, issues can crop up, as was the case here, through no direct fault of SES. It’s a measure of a company/business as to how issues are managed and ours were resolved and dealt with to deliver a successful result. We are delighted with our garden room, shed and garden and look forward to enjoying it throughout the years ahead.
