Practice Plus Group Hospital Shepton Mallet

I had a cataract opp. It was fantastic. All the staff so helpful. So imagine my surprise when I phone today to talk to someone about another opp. I rang at 10 in the morning to be told that I was 8th in line. I put my phone on speaker so I could do other things whilst waiting. The phone was answered at 1. I had been waiting 3 hours. The girl said sorry they had been busy but she also had her lunch hour. Don't you put a replacement in while she's at lunch. When I said so I've been on here waiting while you had your lunch. She replied that she was entitled to it. She then hung up on me. So all the good work that the medical staff do a phone operator puts. back.

I had my first cataract surgery two days ago, with surgeon Mr Jonas Laursen. I cannot speak highly enough of him or the lovely staff who looked after me so well. This hospital is a marvellous asset to this area and it is faultless. My sight is now better than it has ever been and I'm actually looking forward to getting the other eye done. I cannot thank you all enough.

In the last 2 months I have had Cataract surgery in both eyes. and without a doubt the experiences I have had at Shepton have been exceptional. From the initial appointment right through to surgery and then the follow up, everyone has been so professional and made me feel at ease on all occasions. I would definitely recommend this hospital to anyone who has the option of cataract surgery here. Thank you

Outstanding! The whole place seems to operate on a "can do" principle which must be led from the top. I had a partial knee replacement and everyone I had contact with from the booking staff through to post op care were just amazing and entirely patient focused. I live a couple of hours drive away, and they were happy to set all appointments for late morning so I missed the worst of the traffic. Just a small example of how they treat their patients. There was building work going on whilst I was there but if this disrupted the staff, they gave no sign of it. I had to have an Xray, post op and the machine was playing up. The guy doing the Xray was happy to "improvise" to get the necessary angles. I can't praise them all enough and am left wondering why all businesses can't operate this smoothly.

I was referred here by Glastonbury Surgery in January regarding a hernia that is very clear and obvious. It took around six weeks to see a specialist, followed by another month waiting for a scan. During the scan, I repeatedly explained where the hernia actually was, but the person carrying out the scan examined the wrong area. He then identified a hernia in the area he was scanning, despite it not being the location of my actual issue. Another month later, I saw a different specialist who, on palpation, said there was no hernia. I explained again that he was examining the wrong place, just as the scanner had done previously. There has clearly been a major breakdown in communication and information between staff throughout this process. Now I am left waiting yet again for another scan to be done properly, while continuing to live in pain and discomfort. The lack of listening and attention to what I have consistently explained has been extremely frustrating and disappointing.
