Over charged for work done in 2023. No quote provided beforehand. Completely unprofessional behaviour by the owner, Phillip Parsons. He ended up being forced to refund me the entire amount from his own bank account. I would not recommend. In response to reply from PF Parsons: I’m happy that Phillip has shared personal emails between me and him as you’ve referenced below. It is a shame only snippets of said emails have been divulged by you on here. As he (and I would assume, after the events of last year, the rest of the company) is aware, I have many more emails and WhatsApp messages between us on this and other matters which I’ll be very happy to email to the company, as per your suggestion so we can clear this up, as you are implying from your response that you don’t have all the facts to hand. On 16th May 2023, Phillip emailed to say “I can sort your wardrobe - leave it with me.” In response to me mentioning I was looking for a carpenter to install one (I did not ask him to ‘sort’ it, he offered). He did not say he would charge me for it (and why would I expect my boyfriend to charge me for this?!) He arranged for Acorn Joinery to make the doors and frame and for yourselves to install it, which was done in late August 2023. Indeed Riaan did a great job and I’m in no way criticising his workmanship, he is not at fault here. On 4th September 2023, I did indeed email Phillip to say how happy I was with the work (it’s interesting you didn’t include the entirety of that email with your snippet below though and I could if I so wished screenshot it and other emails and messages and add them as photos to this review so everyone has the full picture). But I had not received any invoice at that point. No invoice had been discussed nor quote provided at all in the period from May to September 2023. Indeed that’s why you cannot find any quote to reference as there is none. I assume you provide quotes for your clients in advance of projects and email these beforehand? On 5th September 2023 (the following day) I received an invoice. Completely out of the blue. I paid it and sent the message to confirm that, quite frankly out of sheer embarrassment and shock. And as Phillip had divulged to me his financial woes at the time (he was trying to sell the business unbeknownst to the rest of the company at the time but the buyers had pulled out) I thought he obviously needed the money, even from me. I was far from happy about paying for something I’d received no quote for, whether from someone I was in a relationship with or not, which is standard business practice. You state that your company always provides clear communication and transparent pricing but you failed to do so with me. Regardless of my personal relationship with Phillip which seems to have muddied the waters. In February 2024, Phillip refunded me the entire amount from his personal bank account. As he agreed that I should not have been charged in the first place. Hence my review stating I was overcharged and his behaviour was unprofessional. If that wasn’t the case, why on earth would he have refunded me?! Again, if you’d like to see the messages to back this up please reach out to me and I will happily oblige.
