I want to mention one member of staff in particular. Josh. Tall fella with tattoos. Excellent customer service and leadership qualities. Thank you Josh. We apreciate you.
Super friendly staff and smooth drive through. At the gate they ask you about your items and guide to the numbered bays. Note that numbered bays are above the ramp after the first collection point which is for cans/bottles/electronics/etc. Just a tip, if you have cans/bottles/garden wastes, I recommend you to take them in a container for convenience, otherwise if you bag them you should take them out as you can't drop them like that.
I had a very interesting and informative talk which included a tour of the recycling facility. It was well worth a visit. Thank you very much.
Nasty and aggressive staff that seem to take a pleasure in lecturing you on what they think is ’reasonable’, as opposed to what’s actually permitted. Having removed soil from my garden I checked their website on any regs. Cars are permitted to visit 52 times per year regardless of when those visits are. Soil is limited to 5 bags of 600 x 900 per visit. On my third trip of the day, a jobsworth had a go at me and told me to justify myself, where’s the soil come from. I said ‘from my garden. He then said what i was doing was not a rerasonable DIY project. I asked him to define ‘reasonable’. He just said ‘ reasonable - you should be getting a skip’ He said he’d seen me coming and going all day, said I’d been 5 or 6 times. I disputed that. He said, ‘well we can check the ANPR’. I said ‘fine - do that’. He then lectured me on how they’ll be registering all vehicles to all households, tightening up the rules to stop people that don’t live in the area from coming to use the site. I pointed out to him that i paid my council tax locally. He then had a go at me for having more than 5 bags. I pointed out that less than half full, as they were otherwise too heavy. He insisted that 5 was the limit and they should weigh no more than 25kg - (there is nothing to limit the weight!) He said I should only drop 5 off and that i should then go round again! I said ‘fine I’ll do that then’ . Not the first time I’ve been interrrogated for following THEIR rules.
I visited Longley Lane Recycling Centre this afternoon, and was extremely grateful to BRIAN ALTY, who took all my bags of rubbish from my car and took them to the appropriate cage. You must get lots of complaints but as a senior person I have always been shown respect. Thank you. Please thank Brian. 🙂
