Headington Launderette Oxford

Conveniently located in a busy area. Easy to use as signage is placed around and very clear to read. Very pricey, but will do the job if you have not other choice. The cleanliness of machines was very poor with some with mold and built up remnants of detergents and softener in the dispenser from other users and lots or build up of dust and grime when you open the door of the washing machines. The dryer I used didn't dry very well, after 45mins on high and £7.50 later still left with damp items. Also not all the machines and dryers accept card therefore make sure to bring coins if card accepting machines aren't available.

It’s decent. The machines and dryers are actually good, I spent over 2 and 45mins(it wasn’t a busy day), first part of it was just waiting for someone else to empty their finished washing. I waited for about 40mins plus and decided to leave with half of my washing done, I came with two bags worth. I made the mistake of not carry change as one of the bigger machines required £9 change however after spending 15mins going round to shops I wasn’t able to get any. It would’ve been good if there was some sort of policy for customers to come and empty machines after their clothes finished and this could make busy days for customers less busy. Or every machine had a coin/card option. That way everyone can use every machine regardless of if they remembered to carry change or not.

Really good launderette right in the heart of buzzing Headington. We washed some bulky items (duvets, bedspread etc.) and used the big machine for a rug that fitted easily. Fabulous tumble dryers too. Contactless card units on some of the machines which is very helpful in our increasingly cashless existence. Putting them on every machine would be fab so that they can be card or cash. My wife and I had a great Saturday morning in there 🤣 and super coffee shop over the road. The other customers were nice and friendly too. Overall it’s a 👍🏻

April 2021: This is a convenient launderette that is open from 7am until 7pm every day. It is self service with no-one on site, but there are mobile phone numbers on the door, should you have any issues and need to contact someone. It is rarely very busy, especially early in the morning. The front door can be a bit stiff so needs a firm push. The various machines are priced at £5, £6, £7 and £8 and appear to go up in size. I use the £5 one as it is a decent size for a single person’s laundry. The machines need specific coinage so bear that in mind when planning a visit. The coinage for each machine is: £5 = £1 coins only. £6 = £2, £1, 50p, 20p. £7 = £2, £1, 50p, 20p. £8 = £2, £1, 50p, 20p. I use a hot wash on the £5 machine (press the desired cycle button before putting money in, pop coins in and it will start automatically) and it takes just over 24 mins to do the full cycle. Dryers (there are 6) are priced at 10p per minute (pop clothes in, put in cash, then press the temperature you want and it will start). My laundry take around 30 mins to dry. There is a bench to sit on while you wait or there are local supermarkets or the coffee shop to pop to. The decor is a little tired, but, the machines and tumble dryers work well and it does the job - as of April 2021 the soap powder machine is not working, so bring your own powder/liquid. Take a book and relax!

Excellent laundromat with clean machines and a welcoming atmosphere. My clothes always come out fresh and spotless. Highly recommended!
