Ash Road Household Waste and Recycling Centre - R4GM/SUEZ

Avoid, staff member on the gate needs training on how to speak to people. Had to go here twice since local newton heath tip was closed where I never had an issue. First time I had to open all my bags to show contents before even being let in. Was told the clothes couldn't go in general waste (they were in separate bags for recycling). When I went into the site was then told to throw said clothes in general waste as the shed they went in was full. Second time I wasn't allowed in. Same person on the gate both times and me driving the same campervan derived from a car both times. His attitude was disgusting all over small amount of what was obvious private waste. Yet drove straight into Chadderton tip where the staff were really friendly and helpful. Staff need sorting out they're rude and obviously need training in dealing with the public. Tried asking for manager or the member of staffs details so I could report but was met with arrogance. No wonder we have an issue with fly tipping in the area.

I’ve been to a lot of tips and waste disposal sites, but the attitude of the staff here was honestly shocking. If you’re looking for someone to help or even acknowledge you, forget it. First off, when I asked where to dump a few bags of trash, the staff member didn’t even look up from his phone. I had to repeat myself twice before he mumbled, “Over there,” and pointed vaguely in a direction. No eye contact, no offer to help it was like I was inconveniencing him just by being there. The real kicker came when I asked about a recycling bin. The guy acted like I was asking for the last slice of pizza at a party. He barely even explained where the bins were, just waved in some random direction and went back to whatever was so much more important than his job. Honestly, I get that it’s not the most glamorous job, but the least they could do is not make you feel like you’re bothering them for doing what they’re paid to do. It’s not too much to ask for a little courtesy, right?

I was told i couldn't leave some scrap metal as it was trade waste. It was not, I explained that it was from my house and was less than 2 bin bags full - the guys recommendation 'leave it on the main road the scrap metal guys will collect it' - LOL. I returned the next day, different guy, all was good.

Every time I go to this tip, I'm met with rude, arrogant and over officious staff. I really don't understand why they make life so difficult for people who just want to take stuff to the tip. The one with glasses who just sits there smoking roll ups is particularly bad.
