Had our living room floor boards treated for woodworm by Rentokil this summer and can honestly say the service was impeccable. The surveyor (Mark Ellis) was so so helpful in explaining the issue we had, how to treat it and the scope of works needed in order to put things right. The contractor who carried out the treatment on our property (Mick McNulty) really did go above and beyond and I’m really glad we engaged the services of Rentokil for the work on our property. Rentokil appear to be one of the few companies out there that do woodworm treatment and offer the relevant 30 year guarantee. Would definitely use them again.

I noticed some woodworm holes in joists of floor when I was in a crawl space. Contacted Rentokill for advice. The staff on the phone were great and understood my explanation. I booked for a survey and paid the survey fee which would be deducted from any works done by Rentokill. When we were preparing the area for the survey by removing some polystyrene insulation between the joists we noticed a pipe that was clad by something that looks suspiciously like asbestos. I contacted Rentokill to let them know that I would have to reschedule the survey until the potential asbestos was addressed. They were brilliant about that. Said they could put the payment on hold until asbestos sorted and then reschedule the survey. They did also say that they had a team that could look at the asbestos but I had already booked someone else in to come. Once the ‘asbestos’ was sorted (turned out to be a false alarm), I rescheduled for a survey. The surveyor, Neil arrived on time and explained everything very clearly and produced a report and quote for the work with clear plan of the property showing affected that needed treating. The report came within 24 hours - amazing. I did have 2 other quotes - one didn’t even want to visit the site but quoted based on my square footage estimate. They said they would just treat all timber that was visible and have a vague guarantee of 10 years. The other were another well known firm who to be fair were similar to Rentokill but the plan drawing wasn’t as clear and professional and the guarantee is only 20 years, not the 30 that rentokill offer. Pricewise they were similar Rentokill about £50 more. But we felt more confident with the professionalism of Rentokill. On the Treatment Day, Paul arrived bright and early as promised and got stuck in. He was professional and courteous at all times and very respectful of my mum’s home (she’s in her 80s). He explained exactly what he was going to do and how long it would take. He was very careful regarding the health and safety side of things and kept us in the picture throughout. He completed the job in the time he said and left the area clear and tidy. I would definitely recommend Rentokill.
