CP Refresher Course March 2026 From day one, Assero delivered the course with a level of professionalism, structure, and learner support that catered for everyone in the room — from highly experienced operators to those currently outside the sector (like myself), and even individuals who, frankly, may not have worked in CP since completing their original training. While much of the content naturally leaned towards Door Supervision, reflecting the reality that many CP licence holders take DS roles between contracts, there was healthy debate about the lack of updated Close Protection‑specific content — particularly around evolving tactics, planning, and operational practices. Despite that, I took away four key benefits: A Genuine Opportunity to Network I met an incredibly engaging operator working in a field I’d never previously considered. It opened my eyes to new possibilities and areas I’d like to explore further. A Chance to Refresh Practical Skills My current role doesn’t require me to keep my Physical Intervention skills sharp. Even though the course covers only the SIA‑mandated minimum, it definitely reignited my motivation to start training again and maintain my competency. Revisiting Laws and Legislation Regulations evolve, and it’s easy to miss changes or misinterpret updates. The refresher gave me a structured environment to brush up, test myself, and ensure my understanding is current. Validating My Own Capability Being out of the CP environment can lead to self‑doubt. I was pleasantly surprised by how well I performed alongside active operators — and, conversely, how concerning the competency gaps were in some who hold a current CP licence. Overall, while the recertification requirement may raise eyebrows, for me it offered clear value, renewed confidence, and a genuine push to re‑engage with skills that matter.
